If We Lose The Forest, We Lose Our Teacher

There are some big ol powerful trees like this out here on The Prana Farm. I often look at them and exchange a few words of inquiry, along with my unwavering gratitude for their presence and what they teach me.

Strength, yes!
Steadiness, yes!
Generosity, yes!
Calmness, yes!

I recently did a Zenthai session where I offered a visualisation to someone to see themselves as a tree. Big strong roots down at their feet for them to steady themselves. To then breath into their body, the trunk and feel a sense of verticality, right up through their spine. To then soften out though the sides of their eyes and see themselves broad and vast like the canopy of this big ol tree with offerings of shelter, fruits, a place to rest, extending themselves to friends, loved ones, work colleagues, community, anyone in need of their shade.

Visualizing and imagining objects or aspects of nature, remind us of certain qualities that we need to draw from at different times to fuel us, nurture us, to inspire or simply allow ourselves to just be. In nature exists all of the archetypes, in fact, just in the trees alone! Some are so nimble, others so sturdy, some need little soil, others burrow so deep. Just like looking for a mentor, finding the tree that represent the qualities that you most need to nurture in yourself, is finding the ultimate guide. And then, just like the tree, don’t be anything but yourself.

With Love,

Shane
